THE 2019 REHEARSAL FOR TRUTH THEATER FESTIVAL | May 9-12, 2019

2019 SPRING WEEKEND

The inaugural Spring Weekend added a weekend of contemporary European stage readings to yearly program of Rehearsal for Truth Theater Festival.

The 2019 Spring Weekend presented dramas in translation, showcasing the work of young playwrights and offering New York performers and directors the opportunity to try out these works onstage. Audiences were exposed to current trends in European dramatic creation and their interpretations by local New York City theater professionals. The performing arts and cultural institutions of the five participating countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia) collaborated with the Director of Rehearsal for Truth Theater Festival, Pavla Niklova, to select the plays as well as arrange trips of some of the chosen playwrights to New York City, to participate in the rehearsals, stage reading performances, and discussions with the audience after the shows.
